Ashley Biden, daughter of Joe Biden, has issued an update from hospital relating to her fatherโs treatment for cancer.
In May of this year, the former POTUS announced that he had been diagnosed with an โaggressiveโ form of prostate cancer, revealing at the time that he was pursuing several treatment options.
The discovery was reportedly made after the 82-year-old reported urinary symptoms, leading to doctors finding a small nodule on his prostate.
โLast week, Presidentย Joe Bidenย was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms,โ Bidenโs office said in a statement.
โOn Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterised by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone.
โWhile this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive which allows for effective management.โ
Earlier this week, a spokesperson for Bidenโs team offered a rare update on his battle with the illness, revealing that the 82-year-old was receiving radiation therapy as part of his treatment plan, as well as hormone treatment.
โAs part of a treatment plan for prostate cancer, President Biden is currently undergoing radiation therapy and hormone treatment,โ the spokesperson said.
โThe cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive which allows for effective management.โ
According to Hello Magazine, Bidenโs daughter Ashley has now offered another update, and this one from the hospital where the former president has just completed a course of radiation treatment.
In a short video shared to Instagram by Ashley, Biden was seen ringing the bell at Penn Medicine Radiation Oncology in Philadelphia, a symbolic tradition for cancer patientsย upon their completion of a round of treatment.
Ashley Biden posted the vide to her almost 29,000 Instagram followers, with a caption that read: โRung the Bell! Thank you to the incredible doctors, nurses, and staff at Penn Medicine. We are so grateful!โ
Another photo showed Biden standing with his family, which Ashley captioned: โDad has been so damn brave throughout his treatment. Grateful.โ
Speaking of his own diagnosis earlier this year, Biden said: โItโs all a matter of taking a pill, one particular pill, for the next six weeks and then another one.
โWell, the prognosis is good. You know, weโre working on everything. Itโs moving along. So I feel good.โ
