Chilling messages Charlie Kirk’s alleged killer sent to friends following assassination

Hours after Charlie Kirkโ€˜s alleged killer, Tyler Robinson, 22, shot the right-wing political activist during a debate atย Utahย Valley University, he joked in a private Discord chat that his โ€œdoppelgangerโ€ killed Kirk.

One of his friends even tagged Robinson in one of the photos released by the FBI showing the alleged shooter โ€” a slim man, college-aged, wearing sunglasses and a cap, skulking through the campus stairwell โ€” writing โ€œwya,โ€ meaning โ€œwhere you at,โ€ alongside a skull emoji.

Robinson responded by brushing off the allegations, writing that his look-alike was trying to โ€œget me in trouble.โ€

Another message in the chat read, โ€œTyler killed Charlie,โ€ as a joke.

According to the messages obtained by the New York Times, Robinson also mocked the FBI investigation.

Allegedly, one of the people in the chat joked that they would turn Robinson to the authorities if they get a $100,000 reward, to what Robinson replied, โ€œOnly if I get a cut.โ€

A user mentioned Luigi Mangione, charged with killing the United Healthcare CEO, and warned Robinson not to head to McDonaldโ€™s. Robinson replied: โ€œBetter also get rid of this manifesto and exact copy rifle I have lying around.โ€

At one point, Kirkโ€™s alleged killer sent his friends a message writing, โ€œIโ€™m actually Charlie Kirk. Wanted to get outta politics so I faked my death, now I can live out my dream life in Kansas.โ€

He added how he believed the killer was obviously from California. โ€œI heard the ammo had somethin about trans stuff on it, but they arenโ€™t releasing photos or exact quotes,โ€ he also reportedly wrote, adding: โ€œAnd also the claim wasnโ€™t backed by the official FBI, just some dude in the briefing room.โ€

Although the leaked messages have sparked major attention, doubts remain about their authenticity and context. Discord, where the exchanges were said to occur, stated it has found no evidence Robinson used its platform to plan or promote violence.

โ€œIn the course of our investigation, we identified a Discord account associated with the suspect,โ€ the company stated. โ€œBut we have found no evidence that the suspect planned this incident or promoted violence on Discord.

โ€œThe messages referenced in recent reporting about planning details do not appear to be Discord messages.

โ€œThese were communications between the suspectโ€™s roommate and a friend after the shooting, where the roommate was recounting the contents of a note the suspect had left elsewhere.โ€

Authorities revealed that it was a family member, likely Robinsonโ€™s father, who first suspected his son was behind the shooting. He then spoke to a friend who contacted law enforcement.

Governorย Spencer Coxย of Utah thanked the alleged killerโ€™s family for โ€œdoing the right thing.โ€
