Trump releases “private” letter Melania wrote to Putin

Donald Trump has revealed the letter First Lady Melania Trump wrote to Vladimir Putin, which the US President handed over to his Russian counterpart at a recent summit.

Much and more was speculated prior to Trump and Putinโ€™s meeting last week, with the two world leaders convening in Alaska on Friday, August 15, to discuss a potential ceasefire relating to Russiaโ€™s invasion of Ukraine.

Perhaps the detail that raised the most eyebrows was that the Ukrainian government (who have been fighting to rid their homeland of Russia since 2022) were not invited to send representatives. Simply put, the terms and conditions regarding a potential transition to peace were discussed without the presence of those for whom peace is most desired in the first place.

In typically bullish fashion, Trump claimed after the summit with Putin that the pair had made โ€œgreat progressโ€. Mind you, no deal was reached as there has been no ceasefire. Neither did he secure a proposal he could put to Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

One thing Trump was able to accomplish was to ensure that Putin read a letter written by his wife, Melania. It was handed to the Russian president during their meeting, with Putin said to have read it immediately.

The POTUS also shared the contents of said letter, saying it called for Putin to remember the children who โ€œdream of love, possibility, and safety from dangerโ€, urging him to call off his invasion.

โ€œEvery child shares the same quiet dreams in their heart, whether born randomly into a nationโ€™s rustic countryside or magnificent city-center,โ€ the letter fromย Melaniaย read.

โ€œThey dream of love, possibility, and safety from danger. In protecting the innocence of these children, you will do more than serve Russia alone โ€“ you serve humanity itself.

โ€œSuch a bold idea transcends all human division, and you, Mr. Putin, are fit to implement this vision with the stroke of the pen today. It is time.โ€

Coverage of the potentially historic summit last week was mixed, particularly after it was heavily implied that the only way Russia might agree to a ceasefire is if they are allowed to keep large areas of Ukraine they have seized since their invasion. That, understandably, is not a concession Ukraine want to give.

President Trump, though, was furious at those attempting to criticize his negotiation tactics.

The POTUS wrote on Truth Social: โ€œIf I got Russia to give up Moscow as part of the Deal, the Fake News, and their PARTNER, the Radical Left Democrats, would say I made a terrible mistake and a very bad deal. Thatโ€™s why they are the FAKE NEWS! Also, they should talk about the 6 WARS, etc., I JUST STOPPED!!!โ€

Trumpโ€™s special envoy Steve Witkoff, meanwhile, claimed substantial progress was made during the talks.

โ€œWe made so much progress at this meeting with regard to all the other ingredients necessary for a peace deal that we โ€” that President Trump pivoted to that place,โ€ he said on CNNโ€™s โ€œState of the Union.โ€
