After The Late Show was canceled, Stephen Colbert launches an angry rant at Trump – Weveryday Stories

Stephen Colbert Fires Back at Trump After Late Showย Cancellation

Stephen Colbert isnโ€™t going quietly.
On Monday night (July 21), theย Late Show host directly addressed Donald Trumpโ€™s online mockery of the showโ€™s cancellation. He made it clear: the gloves are off.

Colbert Responds: โ€œGo F*** Yourselfโ€

Returning to air for the first time since CBS announcedย The Late Showย would end in 2026, Colbert wasted no time confronting Trumpโ€™s Truth Social post.
Trump had celebrated the showโ€™s end, writing:

โ€œI absolutely love that Colbert got fired. His talent was even less than his ratings.โ€

Colbert, staring straight into what he dubbed the โ€œEloquence Cam,โ€ shot back with a three-word message:

โ€œGo f*** yourself.โ€

Defending Jimmy Kimmel

Trump didnโ€™t stop with Colbert. He also attacked fellow host Jimmy Kimmel, calling him โ€œnextโ€ and claiming he had โ€œeven less talent.โ€

Colbert jumped to Kimmelโ€™s defense with biting satire:

โ€œNope. Absolutely not. Kimmel, Iโ€™m the martyr. Thereโ€™s only room for one on this crossโ€”and the view is fantastic. I can see your house!โ€

Cancellation Sparks Controversy

CBS blamed the showโ€™s upcoming end on โ€œfinancial decisions,โ€ citing high production costs and falling ad revenue. But insiders arenโ€™t buying it.

Critics point to CBSโ€™s parent company, Paramount, and its $8.4 billion planned merger with Skydanceโ€”backed by pro-Trump billionaire Larry Ellisonโ€”as a key factor.
Sources toldย The Independentย the cancellation may be part of a broader โ€œTrump shakedown,โ€ linked to a $16 million lawsuit settlement over aย 60 Minutesย interview with Kamala Harris.

Colbert didnโ€™t hold back:

โ€œItโ€™s a big fat bribe. My dream was always to have a sitting president root for my unemployment.โ€

Colbert Mocks CBSโ€™s Explanation

Colbert laughed off CBSโ€™s claim that the show lost up to $50 million last year:

โ€œI can account for $24 million. Where did the other $16 million go? Oh yeah.โ€

He also joked that his bold moustache mightโ€™ve triggered the network:

โ€œThey saw my upper lip and boomโ€”canceled. Coincidence? I think not. This is worse than fascism. This is stachism.โ€

Promises to Speak Freely Until the End

Colbert made a promise:

โ€œIf CBS is kil*ing off the show while Iโ€™m still standing, Iโ€™ll keep speaking unvarnished truth to power.โ€

Jon Stewart Joins the Fig.ht

Jon Stewart also slammed the network. Onย The Daily Show, he accused Paramount of trying to โ€œcensor and controlโ€ Colbertโ€™s team for political reasons:

โ€œWas this purely financial? Or just the path of least resistance for your $8 billion merger?โ€

He warned that playing it safe to avoid Trumpโ€™s wrath would backfire:

โ€œIf you think you can make yourself so bland youโ€™ll never be targeted againโ€”youโ€™re wrong.โ€

The audience responded with a resounding chant:

โ€œGo f*** yourselves!โ€โ€”aimed squarely at networks that cave to political pressure.
