Donald Trump and Rosie OโDonnell arenโt exactly best of friends. The comedian decided to leave the US when Donald Trump was elected president for a second time, and as sheโs lashed out against him several times, Trump has responded. Now, the President of the United States has made another move, threatening to revoke OโDonnellโs citizenship. It didnโt take long for the comedian to answer.ย ย
Shortly before Donald Trumpโs inauguration in January, American-born comedian and actress Rosie OโDonnell had decided that enough was enough. Speaking with CNN at the time, she stated that she and her nonbinary child wouldnโt be safe in the US anymore, and therefore decided to move to Ireland.
โI knew after reading Project 2025 that if Trump got in, it was time for me and my nonbinary child to leave the country,โ she said. โI have no regrets. Not a day has gone by that I thought it was the wrong decision. I was welcomed with open arms.โ
Rosie OโDonnell and Donald Trump have clashed for many years. Back in 2006, while OโDonnell was the host of The View, she called Trump a โsnake-oil salesman on Little House On The Prairie,โ and said he went bankrupt, something Donald Trump said was not true.
Meanwhile, Trump has called Rosie OโDonnell many names over the years, including a โpigโ and โdumb.โ
After her words on Trump on The View in 2006, Trump answered, saying, โYou canโt make false statements. Rosie will rue the words she said. Iโll most likely sue her for making those false statements โ and itโll be fun. Rosieโs a loser. A real loser. I look forward to taking lots of money from my nice, fat little Rosie.โ
Now, Donald Trump has been quite provoked by Rosie OโDonnell once again. However, this time it got pretty serious.
Donald Trump threatens to revoke Rosie OโDonnellโs citizenship
On his Truth Social platform on Saturday, Donald Trump reignited his clash with OโDonnell, stating that he was considering revoking her citizenship, even though she was born in the US.
โBecause of the fact that Rosie OโDonnell is not in the best interests of our Great Country, I am giving serious consideration to taking away her Citizenship,โย Trump wrote. โShe is a Threat to Humanity, and should remain in the wonderful Country of Ireland, if they want her. GOD BLESS AMERICA!โ
Some months ago, Steve Vladeck, CNN Supreme Court analyst and professor at Georgetown Law, stated that the threat of โcoercive expatriationโ was a โpatently unconstitutional move.
โFor good reasons, it is difficult to denaturalize a U.S. citizen and even harder to expatriate one,โ Vladeckย wrote. โCongress has provided for only a handful of circumstances in which the executive branch is empowered to pursue such a move; and the Supreme Court has recognized meaningful constitutional limits (and an entitlement to meaningful judicial review) even in those cases.โ
Rosie OโDonnell claims Trump is a โdanger to the worldโ
So what did Rosie OโDonnell think of Donald Trump and the threat of revoking her citizenship? It didnโt take long until she responded. Writing on Instagram, the comedian and actress said, โyou want to revoke my citizenship? go ahead and try, king joffrey with a tangerine spray tan. iโm not yours to silence. i never was.โ
On Sunday, Rosie OโDonnell appeared on the Irish radio broadcaster RTE Radio 1 and further spoke about Trumpโs threat. She said the President of the United States is a โdanger to the world.โ
โI am very proud to be opposed to every single thing he says and does and represents. I think heโs a racist and heโs misogynistic and heโs sexist,โ OโDonnell said and continued to explain her thoughts on the threat about getting her citizenship taken away.
โI know he canโt do that, but the Supreme Court has given him unbridled powers, and who knows what he can and canโt do,โ she continued. โHe shouldnโt be allowed to be doing what he is to immigrants in the United States without due process, but heโs doing it anyway. This is not America. This is not democracy.โ
