When it comes to politics in the United States, it seems as if everybody has an opinion. What is more, they often arenโt afraid to voice their opinion for the world to hear.
This includes some that are close to President Donald Trump, including his niece, Mary Trump. Over the years, she has been an outspoken critic of โUncle Donaldโ and has even written a memoir about him and the rest of the family.
Mary is the oldest daughter of Donald Trumpโs brother, Fred. He passed away in 1981, but his daughter is still out there wreaking havoc for the POTUS. She recently said that having him return to the Oval Office meant we were living in โuniquely dangerous timesโ.
She also said that the United States would have to โstart showing up in different ways from what we might be used toโ. Essentially, she was saying that there may be trouble on the horizon.
When you look at how many changes Donald Trump has made since he took office, itโs easy to see that he has created a lot of frustration for many. Some love it, others donโt.
One thing that he has been trying to change is how often a person can remain president. Per the Constitution, a sitting president can only serve a maximum of two 4-year terms.
Trump, on the other hand, has been strongly hinting that he is going to try to get reelected at the end of the current term. Some people find this to be terrifying.
In referring to certain loopholes that would allow him to stay in office, he said: โIโd rather not discuss that now, but as you know, there are some loopholes that have been discussed that are well known.
โBut I donโt believe in loopholes. I donโt believe in using loopholes.โ
If he were able to attempt this, it would require a lot of backing from the American public and from Congress. He essentially would be going against the 22nd amendment, and that may not go well for him.
In speaking about him possibly running for a third term, Mary said: โThatโs what Donald certainly has in mind. Itโs not about whether or not heโll run. Itโs about whether or not heโll leave. Itโs more likely that heโll just say, โIโm president for life and Iโm not going anywhereโ. And heโll challenge people to get rid of him.
โWhat enforcement mechanism is there to drag the guy who just lost the election but is in the Oval Office? How do you get rid of him? We donโt know, because weโve never had this problem. I think heโs willing to challenge that.
โAmerica is a deeply broken country and it has been for a long time. Donald is not an anomaly. He is, I think, the logical conclusion to the last 40 years of Republican degradation.โ
