Kate Middleton ‘careful’ about public return amid cancer

Itโ€™s been almost one and a half years since Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, was diagnosed with cancer. Needless to say, her family has gone through a very challenging period, but to everyoneโ€™s joy, sheโ€™s now made a full recovery.

Of course, that doesnโ€™t mean that Kate is back full-time. A source has now revealed new details in her post-cancer remission โ€“ and it reportedly affects her daily life a lot.

Kate Middletonโ€™s cancer diagnosis, which was disclosed in March last year, sent royal fans worldwide into shock. The Princess of Wales, who had undergone an abdominal surgery in January earlier the same year, left public life to focus on her cancer treatment. For a long time, people didnโ€™t know how she was doing or even where she was.

The infamous manipulated Motherโ€™s Day picture, which Kate later apologized for, didnโ€™t hardly suppressed the conspiracy theories about her not being well, or even alive. But in the end, she thankfully made it through. In September last year, the princess released an emotional video where she stated that she was cancer-free and had completed her chemotherapy.

โ€œAs the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment,โ€ Kate said in the video.

She added that it had been an โ€œincredibly toughโ€ year and that โ€œlife as we know it can change in an instant.โ€ Meanwhile, the Princess of Wales described the โ€œstormy watersโ€ of cancer as something โ€œcomplex, scary, and unpredictable.โ€

โ€œWith humility, it also brings you face to face with your own vulnerabilities in a way you have never considered before, and with that, a new perspective on everything,โ€ Kate added.

Kate Middleton has โ€˜new perspective on lifeโ€™ amid cancer

The princess has attended more events since then, and her daily royal duties have resumed. That said, Kate is taking things slowly to avoid rushing back into her old life, and some insiders have even suggested that she will approach life moving forward in a very different way.

In a column for the Daily Mail, royal correspondent Rebbeca English cited sources that claimed William and Kate have gotten a whole new perspective on life, adding that the โ€œtraumaโ€ has โ€œchangedโ€ the Princess of Wales as a person. Moreover, one source made the bombshell claim that Kate wonโ€™t adopt the same schedule as she did before her diagnosis.

โ€œCancer impacts on your perspective, and what you have seen in the decisions they have made over the last year is that family and their children continue to be at the center of their universe,โ€ a source told English.

โ€œBoth Their Royal Highnesses have a strong commitment to duty, service, and using their platform for good. But what they are working on is ways they canย balance themselves as parents with being the Prince and Princess of Wales.โ€

โ€œEveryone is adjusting the dial,โ€ another source said.

A close friend of Kate Middleton concluded: โ€œAs Catherine herself said, sheโ€™s looking forward to the future with hope and a new appreciation of life. She has also had little choice but to take a step back and focus on herself, which inevitably has led her to reassess where their priorities lie.โ€

โ€œItโ€™s such a shockโ€

In January, Kate made an emotional visit to the hospital where she received treatment. When appearing at the Royal Marsden Hospital in the western part of London, the Princess of Wales thanked the staff as well as met with other cancer patients. She spoke with them about the โ€œtoughโ€ treatment but added that there is a โ€œlight at the end of that tunnel.โ€

โ€œItโ€™s really toughโ€ฆ Itโ€™s such a shockโ€ฆ Everyone said to me, โ€˜please keep a positive mindset, it makes such a difference,’โ€ Kate told a woman who went through chemotherapy.

โ€œYou think the treatment has finished and you can crack on and get back to normal, but thatโ€™s still a real challenge. The words totally disappear. And understanding that as a patient โ€“ yes, there are side effects around treatment, but actually there are more long-term side effects.โ€

At the same time, Kate stated that she was in remission, which Cancer Research UK explains as someone who has no sign of cancer amid treatment.

โ€œAs anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead,โ€ Kate wrote in a social media post at the time.

She added: โ€œMy heartfelt thanks goes to all those who have quietly walked alongside William and me as we have navigated everything. We couldnโ€™t have asked for more,โ€ thanking the hospital for their โ€œexceptionalโ€ care.

Kate Middletonโ€™s โ€˜strictโ€™ realization in cancer recovery

As mentioned, Kate has been seen at an increasing amount of royal events in the last few months. She was seen with her family during Trooping the Colour, but was not present at the Royal Ascot.

Why is that? According to a new report in the Daily Mail, the princess is โ€œquite strictโ€ about choosing the public outings she needs to attend. While Kate has been gradually returning to public life, she is careful to find the right balance in her life.

A source told the Daily Mail: โ€œSheโ€™s quite strict now at working out what she needs to be at and what she doesnโ€™t. And people forget that even if they arenโ€™t seeing her in public, she is very hands-on behind the scenes with the team in the office. She has her own projects to pursue, such as her early years initiative. Thatโ€™s a lifelong commitment for HRH.โ€

Another source claimed that Kensington Palace needs to have โ€˜flexiilityโ€™ surrounding Kate Middletonโ€™s schedule. If that will lead to a more packed schedule for Kate Middleton in the future, time will tell.
