After Israel unleashed a barrage of airstrikes targeting locations throughout Iran before daybreak and Tehran launched a barrage of missiles targeting Israel that killed at least four people early Tuesday morning, both parties agreed to the accord.
According to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel and President Trump have coordinated to reach a bilateral ceasefire agreement with Iran.
Netanyahu claimed to have informed Israelโs security cabinet on Monday evening that Israel had accomplished all of its objectives during the 12-day campaign against Iran, including eliminating the threat posed by Iranโs ballistic missile and nuclear programs.
According to Netanyahu, Israel also took control of Tehranโs skies and destroyed Iranโs military leadership and a number of government buildings.
โIsrael will respond forcefully to any violation of the ceasefire,โ Netanyahu said.
The short-lived ceasefire is said to have ended after Trump urged Israel and Iran toย โnot violate it.โย In other places, he expressed his desire that the truce would lastย โforeverโย and his conviction that their battle was done.
โI donโt believe they will ever be shooting at each other again,โย Trump said.
Following Iranโs alleged breach of the ceasefire, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz released a statement in which he instructed the Israel Defence Forces toย โrespond forcefully to Iranโs violation of the ceasefire with intense strikes against regime targets in the heart of Tehran,โย according to theย BBC.
Itโs unclear if the hit did any additional damage because Israel has subsequently claimed to have intercepted the two missiles, according toย CNN.
Reports that Iran fired a missile at Israel after the ceasefire was established have been refuted by Iranian state media.
Just before dawn, Iran launched a barrage of missiles against Israel prior to the armistice. Israelโs Magen David Adom emergency services reported that the strike left four persons dead and twenty injured.
At least three crowded residential structures in the city of Beersheba were damaged by the bombardment, according to authorities.
