Melania Trump snubbed by designers days before inauguration

Melania Trump, as gorgeous as ever, stood by her husband at the Capitol Building as he took the oath and sworn in as the 47th President of the United States.

During the time she and the business mogul-turned president prepared to take the keys to the White House, Melania released a book titled, well,ย Melania,ย that ended up on the top of the list of New York Times Bestsellers.

The Slovenian-born former model has also confirmed a new TV documentary.

Since she and Donald Trump left the White House following his first term as the head of the country,ย Melaniaย stayed out of the spotlight. But now that sheโ€™s First Lady again, that is about to change.

Amazon confirmed of January 6 they had begun filming a new behind-the-scenes film about Melania.

Except for the documentary, that started filming in December 2024, and is set to premiere in theaters and on the streaming platform during the latter half of 2025, allegedly a follow-up documentary series is also being produced.

According toย Puck News, sources familiar with the deal revealed that its licensing value is $40 million.

โ€œWe are excited to share this truly unique story with our millions of customers around the world,โ€ Amazon said in a statement.

Melania spoke about the project herself when appearing onย Fox & Friends.

She said the idea behind the movie came from the peopleโ€™s interest in her book, so she assumed they wanted to learn more about her life.

โ€œSo I had an idea to make a movie, to make a film about my life. My life is incredible. Itโ€™s incredibly busy and I told my agent I have this idea so please go out and make a deal for me. We started the production in November and we are shooting right now. So itโ€™s a day-to-day life. What Iโ€™m doing, what kind of responsibilities I have, people they donโ€™t really know and they will see it,โ€ Melania toldย Fox.

โ€œItโ€™s day-to-day from transition team to moving to the White House, packing, establishing my team, the First Lady office, moving into the White House. What it takes to make the residents your home, to hire the people that you need.โ€

Speaking withย Elleย in 2016, Patsy Cisneros, an LA-based political image consultant, stated that Melania was actually one of the few on television who could carry wearing white.

โ€œVery few people can wear white on television. Because sheโ€™s so statuesque, it worked. It filled her out, rather than emphasizing how tall and thin she is,โ€ Cisneros said, branding Melania the โ€œice queen.โ€

โ€œIt softened her,โ€ the image consultant added.

The First Lady has always been fashionable, but as expected, her style has changed over the years.

Melania Trump, however, doesnโ€™t feel like her style has evolved a lot.

โ€œMy style has stayed pretty consistent over the years,โ€ Melania toldย Elle. โ€œI always wear what I like and what is appropriate for the occasion.โ€

For her husbandโ€™s inauguration, Melania opted for a custom double-breasted navy coat by Adam Lippes that she paired with a matching boater hat by Eric Javits, designed especially for the occasion.

Womenโ€™s Wear Dailyย reached out to 16 designers to ask if they would dress Melania.

Representatives from designer brands like Michael Kors, Diotimaโ€™s Rachel Scott, Zankovโ€™s Sergio Hudson, and House of Gilles chose not to comment on whether they would consider collaborating with Melania for the inauguration.

During Donald Trumpโ€™s first term, designers such as Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs, and Jason Wu publicly refused to dress Melania.

French designer Hervรฉ Pierre, who has been working with Melania over the years, says he canโ€™t explain why certain designers refuse to collaborate with the First Lady.

โ€œI donโ€™t really do that for the good reason that the fashion industry is not very welcoming [of Trump.] Thatโ€™s no secret,โ€ he explained. โ€œSome are very open-minded and would be able to do something special. But a lot of people are not.โ€

One time, a store told him he wasnโ€™t welcome there because he was designing clothes for Melania Trump.

โ€œI understand that you can criticise Mrs. Trump, but to say to someone who is coming to shop โ€“ full-price, โ€˜You are not welcome here.โ€™ That is something that I would have never expected,โ€ Pierre said.

โ€œSome of the designers here in New York are lovely. The Europeans are more open-minded. They see dressing Mrs. Trump, due to the press coverage that she is getting, as a business opportunity to generate sales and free publicity.โ€
