Trump wanted comedian deported over golf course joke

Donald Trumpโ€™s policies have been a hot topic since his re-election in November 2024. From the tariffs imposed on nearly every country in the world to his administrationโ€™s handling of migration, many of his decisions have sparked significant controversy.

When heโ€™s not busy signing executive orders and changing laws,ย Trump enjoys playing golfย at the lavish courses he owns.

Despite being 78, he isย describedย asย โ€œa steady single-digit player who hits a solid deceptively long ballโ€ฆ.and he plays quickly, very quickly.โ€

At the re-opening of the Trump Turnberry golf resort back in 2016, the business mogulโ€“turned president became a โ€œvictimโ€ of notorious comedian and prankster Simon Brodkin known for his alter ego Lee Nelson.

As Trump started his speech, Brodkin threw someย swastika-emblazoned golf balls around him and yelled: โ€œDonald, here are the balls you ordered.โ€

โ€œIโ€™m very sorry Mr Trump and thank you,โ€ he shouted, holding up the balls. โ€œAnd thank you, I apologise. My bad.โ€

Brodkin was then taken away byย the Scottish police who recognized him and โ€œconvinced Trump to not press charges.โ€

โ€œI do have a criminal record, but also a lot to thank the Scottish police for โ€“ they were brilliant,โ€ Nelson toldย The Scottish Sun.

Comedian Simon Brodkin added that Trump โ€œwanted to throw the book at him.โ€

โ€œWho wants to get waterboarded by the CIA when you can have an Irn Bru in the back of a police van?

โ€œI was in there for ages with the coppers, and it felt more like I was on a stag do than anything else. They drove me to the airport and put me on a plane back to London and told Trump and his team I was deported.โ€

Among the rest,ย Brodkinโ€™s pranksย include joining in with theย Manchester Cityย teamโ€™s warm-up, after which he was charged and arrested, storming the stage during Kanye Westโ€™s performance at Glastonbury in 2015, and throwing $600ย at FIFA President Sepp Blatter and shouting it was for North Koreaโ€™s bid to host the World Cup.

โ€œThereโ€™s many targets who would be fun to go for but might end up with a death sentence,โ€ Brodkin toldย Skyย in 2019. โ€œLike if I went for Kim Jong Un.

โ€œAnd then I think if you go for someone like the Queen, that would just be a national catastrophe because you need to go for people with that sweet spot who most people pat you on the back and go, โ€˜that was funny.’โ€
