Meryl Streepย andย Martin Shortย are taking over New York City with one live show at a time.
On Sunday, March 9, the actors were spotted attending a performance ofย Oh! Mary, and posed with the cast backstage. Streep, 74, and Short, 74, stood next to each other as they smiled for photos with the showโs cast. (Jennifer Lopezย andย Ted Lassoย starย Brett Goldsteinย were in attendance as well.)
An onlooker toldย Us Weeklyย exclusively that while โthere wasnโt any PDAโ between Streep and Short, they โarrived togetherโ at the show. โThey were laughing together and having a great time,โ the insider added.
Streep and Shortโs Broadway outing came less than 24 hours after they were spotted pulling up 30 Rock in the late hours of Saturday, March 8, to check outย Lady Gagaโs hosting gig onย Saturday Night Live. Video footageย obtained by TMZย at the time showed the rumored couple getting out of a black SUV and rushing into the building. The actors were all smiles as they greeted fans on their way in.
Neither Streep nor Short are strangers toย SNLย (though she shockingly has never hosted the show). In fact, the sketch comedy show seems to be a core part of their rumored romance as Streep and Short attended theย SNLย 50 Homecoming Concertย together last month. The duo was shown in the crowd, cheering and dancing along to the various performers. When Short hostedย SNLย in December 2024, Streep wasnโt in attendance, but her daughterย Grace Gummerย was spotted in theย crowd showing supportย โ and further fueling romance rumors.
Relationship speculation between Streep and Short started in December 2023 when Time Out New York theater criticย Adam Feldmanย hinted on social media that there were โtwo quite surprising celebrity couplesโ that continued to keep their love under wraps. Fans were quick to wonder if he was referring to Streep and Short.
They are just very good friends, nothing more,โย a rep for Shortย stated in January 2024, after he and Streep were spotted sitting next to each other at the Golden Globes that year to support their showย Only Murders in the Building. (Months later, they were photographed holding hands atย the showโs season 4 premiere.)
Streep and Shortโs characters Loretta Durkin and Oliver Putnam, respectively, are in a relationship on the Hulu show.
