Donald Trump took office for the second time, becoming the 47th president of The United States of America, and while many are in awe with him running the country again, there are also those who are against his politics, and that involves a number of celebrities.

Namely, in light of the election results, many celebrities expressed their desire to flee the country governed by Trump.

Eva Longoria

One of the notable Hollywood stars who publicly spoke about her move from the States because of Trumpโ€™s win is actress Eva Longoria. Speaking to Marie Claireย of the presidentโ€™s plans, she said, โ€œIf he keeps his promises, itโ€™s going to be a scary place. Iโ€™m privilegedโ€”I get to escape and go somewhere. Most Americans arenโ€™t so lucky.โ€ Since then, Longoria is splitting her time between Mexico and Spain.

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi

The former host and her partner made a move to the UK. A source close to the couple shared withย The Wrapย that they are not planning on returning, at least not until Trump is out of office.

The couple are advocates for the LGBTQ+ rights and they are trying to run away from Trumpโ€™s hostility towards the members of the LGBTQ+ community.

America Ferrera

Among the celebrities who are leaving America following Trumpโ€™s win is America Ferrera. While she would be still working in the States,ย reportsย say that sheโ€™s been looking for schools in London for her children.

โ€œShe is going to continue to have a presence in the US for work purposes and to fight for Latinas and women, but she will be overseas for family and to benefit her kidsโ€™ education.

โ€œShe wants them to have the best opportunities possible and to her, being overseas for that is what is important.โ€

โ€œSheโ€™s not abandoning the US, she is prioritizing her life and focusing on the importance for her kids.โ€

Barbra Streisand

Streisand was vocal about moving out of the US if Trump returned for a second term, and not that heโ€™s in office again, only time will tell if she would proceed with her plan.

Laverne Cox

Actress and activist Laverne Cox is considering relocating because of concerns over anti-trans sentiments during Trumpโ€™s administration.

Speaking toย Variety,ย she said, โ€œAs a public figure, with all my privilege, Iโ€™m scared. I feel like I could be targeted. I think they spent close to $100 million on anti-trans ads. Itโ€™s deeply concerning.โ€

Lena Dunham

At the Matrix Awards in 2016, Dunhamย said, โ€œI know a lot of people have been threatening to do this, but I really will.โ€

Although she didnโ€™t mention Trump, she did imply the reasons for her move. Dunham replaced the States for her husbandโ€™s homeland, the UK.

Sophie Turner

Theย Game of Thronesย star has struggled with the US politics for years. Finally, she moved to her homeland, the UK, last year, following her divorce with Joe Jonas.

Speaking to theย Harperโ€™s Bazaar U.K. in 2024, Turner said, โ€œThe gun violence, Roe v. Wade being overturned โ€ฆ Everything just kind of piled on. After the Uvalde [school] shooting, I knew it was time to get the f*** out of there.โ€
