Numerous sleazy stories were bound to be triggered by the presidential inauguration. As the hand holding the pen of US history proceeds to create a new chapter, all eyes were on Capitol Hill yesterday, January 20, as Donald Trump was sworn in ahead of his second term as president.
As expected, there was a lot of conjecture and moments that were worthy of becoming viral on the internet. Melania Trump and Donald Trump were involved in one such instance, where the first lady seemed to “turn her face” away from her husband when he neglected to kiss her at the inauguration.
Trump and Melania arrived for the customary church ceremony that begins the inauguration and the formal end of the outgoing administration, before his crucial speech, which he gave right after taking the oath of office.
Trump seemed to attempt to kiss his wife in front of the cameras, which would have been an unusual display of public affection. But Melania, who was wearing a striking hat that obscured most of her face, turned her head, making her husband’s attempt unsuccessful. It goes without saying that the incident prompted a wide range of online hypotheses and remarks, with individuals debating whether Melania’s action was justified. Was this the first woman to purposefully move her face away from her husband’s kiss? Or was it really a chance event that transpired in front of the world?
Body language expert Judi James tried to clarify the situation by sharing her opinions on what the “dodge” would mean. She told Paddy Power that Donald Trump arrived at the inauguration event “with a slow alpha presence” and a “mouth shrug smile to suggest a sombre, serious approach to the job.” James went on to say that Donald “gently” took Melania’s hand “in a romantic, hand-linking gesture that would normally be seen at a wedding ceremony” when he arrived.
“Then he leaned in to kiss his wife, and for a moment it looked like he was going for a lip-to-lip kiss,” she continued. “Melania turned her face to initiate a cheek kiss instead of the mouth kind, but she also leaned towards her husband to reciprocate.”
According to rumours, Melania will not live in the White House full-time during her husband’s second term in office. Instead, she would divide her time between Washington and New York, where she and Donald’s son, Barron, are currently enrolled in school.
