King Charles is in shock

Captain Ian Farquhar, a Dear Friend of the King, Has Passed Away at 78

Captain Ian Farquhar, a close friend of King Charles and Queen Camilla, has sadly passed away at the age of 78. Ian had a long and distinguished history, having also served as a rider for the Queen Mother.

In addition to being an accomplished hunter and horseman, Ian was a member of the Queenโ€™s Own Hussars. His passing comes at a difficult time for the King, who is currently battling cancer. Just last week, Lord Rothschild also passed away at the age of 87.

Ianโ€™s daughter, Rose Farquhar, shared memorable moments with Prince William during his gap year in 2000, including delightful picnics in Gloucestershireโ€™s countryside.

For many years, Ian rented a charming farmhouse on the Gloucestershire estate of Kingโ€™s Highgrove.

Stephen Parker Bowles, King Charlesโ€™s first husband, spoke to the Daily Mail, revealing that Ian had been very unwell. Andy Parker Bowles informed them early Wednesday morning that Ian had passed away peacefully at Highgrove.

โ€œHe was as spirited as a hawk in his youth and always a joy to be around,โ€ Parker Bowles said. โ€œIan will be remembered as one of the great Masters of Hounds.โ€

Ian served as Master of the Beaufort Hunt for an impressive 34 years.

In tribute to their beloved leader, the Beaufort Hunt shared a heartfelt message on Instagram:

โ€œIt breaks our hearts to share the news of Captain Ian Farquharโ€™s passing. We extend our love and condolences to his family and friends. It was an honor to have him lead us for 34 wonderful years. He died peacefully this week.โ€

Hunters who knew him cherished his friendship and valued his inventive ideas. โ€œHe was known for his humor and had a captivating story from his time in the army and his life as a hunter. Those who were fortunate enough to hear his tales will always treasure those moments.โ€

Captain Farquhar had a deep love for his family, his dogs, and his hounds. We take comfort in knowing that a welcoming pack of dogs will greet him in the next world.

โ€œHe loved his country and was a true gentleman. He will be deeply missed.โ€
