JD Vance and Usha Announce Fourth Child But Face Vile Online Abuse and Cruel Comments

Vice President JD Vance and his wife, Usha, are expanding their family—they just announced they’re expecting their fourth child, a baby boy due in late July.

The couple, who met back in their Yale Law School days and tied the knot in 2014, have always tried to keep their kids’ lives as private as possible. They’ve got three already: their oldest son Ewan, born in June 2017; second son Vivek, who arrived in February 2020; and their daughter Mirabel, born in December 2021 and described by the family as an “early Christmas present” when they shared the news on Instagram.

Over the years, JD and Usha have been pretty open about how much they love parenthood. Before JD was tapped as Trump’s VP pick, he told Fox News something along the lines of, “I love being a dad and Usha loves being a mom… that’s not going to change.” Usha chimed in that they talk a lot and agree on the big stuff when it comes to raising their kids.

The kids have popped up at a few big moments, like their dad’s swearing-in ceremony, and even joined family trips abroad, but the Vances generally shield them from the spotlight.

This new pregnancy announcement came via a heartfelt Instagram post: “We’re very excited to share the news that Usha is pregnant with our fourth child, a boy. Usha and the baby are doing well, and we are all looking forward to welcoming him in late July.” They added a note of thanks to the military doctors and staff who help make family life possible while serving the country.

It’s a joyful update, especially since JD has been vocal about encouraging higher birth rates in America. Plenty of people responded with warm congratulations—comments like “God bless them! Congrats!” and “Such a happy family” popped up under news shares.

But, as often happens online, not everyone kept it positive. Some reactions turned really nasty and personal. One person threw up a GIF of Trump shaking his head with “Nobody cares.” Another shared something referencing rumors about JD and Erika Kirk (Charlie Kirk’s wife), asking “How’s Erika handling the news?” with a “Stop” GIF. Others went darker, saying things like “I feel sorry for all those kids” or “Just what the world needs.”

It’s honestly disappointing to see a simple family milestone get hit with that kind of toxicity—especially when it’s just a couple excited about growing their family. Wishing them well seems like the bare minimum.
