Dodgers’ Alex Vesia and Wife Kayla Share Heartbreaking Loss of Baby Girl Sterling

ISaddest news about Dodgers pitcher Alex Vesia and his wife Kayla. They shared that their little girl, Sterling Sol Vesia, was stillborn on October 26th. The couple posted a heartbreaking message on Instagram, saying there aren’t really words for the kind of pain they’re feeling, but they’ll always carry her in their hearts and treasure every moment they had with her.

They called her “our little angel” and said she’s with them forever. They also thanked the Dodgers family for being there through everything, especially right after the team’s World Series win against the Blue Jays on November 1st. The support from fans, the Blue Jays organization, and everyone in baseball has meant the world to them—they’ve seen all the messages and it’s brought them a lot of comfort.

A huge thank-you went out to the staff at Cedars Sinai too; they said everyone who cared for Kayla and Sterling was incredible.

Back in April, Alex and Kayla had excitedly announced they were expecting their first baby together. Then, right before the World Series, the Dodgers let everyone know Alex was stepping away for a “deeply personal family matter.” The team made it clear this was way bigger than baseball and just wanted to support the Vesias however they could. They even decided not to put him on the Family Medical Emergency List to avoid any extra pressure.

During Game 3 at Dodger Stadium on the 27th, a bunch of teammates wore “51” on their caps to honor Alex. Guys like Clayton Kershaw and Justin Wrobleski spoke about how much he means to the bullpen and the whole team.

My heart really goes out to them. Losing a child is unimaginable. Sending them so much love and strength. 💙
