At the pediatrician’s office, Harry observed with a smile as his boys laughed over something. “Dr. Dennison,” Harry said uneasily as the physician walked in.
“Mr. Campbell. The doctor sat across from Harry after shaking his hands and saying, Please take a seat.” “Mr. Campbell, I truly wanted to speak with you privately. The lads can wait outside.”
Harry wondered if this was bad news, and his heart raced. Dr. Dennison had suggested more testing and urged Harry to have a blood test in case a transfusion was required because Josh had significant anemia despite the fact that his boys were twins. Fortunately, Andrew, his other kid, was in excellent health.
“So, do we have a final clarity on how to proceed?” As the boys departed, Harry asked the doctor agitatedly.
“Calm down, Mr. Campbell,” said Dr. Dennison, leaning back in his saddle. “Josh isn’t my first priority right now. We’ll start with vitamins, possibly intravenously, even if he does have an iron shortage. I wanted to discuss something else with you.”

Harry exhaled a breath of calm. His son was in good health.
Harry felt shivers down his spine as the doctor inquired, “Did you adopt the boys, Mr. Campbell?” “This is a little sensitive, but your blood type is incompatible with the boys.”
“Well, that’s not all that odd, is it? Because they are a combination of two people, biological parents frequently aren’t able to donate to their children,” Harry said.
“Yes, sir. The doctor concurred that some biological parents are unable to contribute. However, you cannot be the father of the boys. Your twins’ blood types are both A, but blood type isn’t the only criteria that determines paternity. Both you and your spouse are B.”
“What? However, this isn’t feasible,” Harry murmured to himself.
“Sir, I apologize. I decided to do a DNA test on your samples as well after seeing these results a few days ago.” The doctor pushed a few documents toward Harry and said, “I know this is difficult to hear, but there’s more.”
The doctor picked up papers to study while Harry gaped at him in shock. The term “half-siblings” in the records stared back at him, but there were many medical terms he didn’t understand.
Harry was shocked as he gazed up at Dr. Dennison. “You’re correct, Mr. Campbell. Josh and Andrew are technically your half-siblings rather than your sons.”
Harry was incredulous. He had reared children for twelve years, but they weren’t his. Nancy must have been with his father since they had to be his. However, it made no sense. When he presented her to his parents, she was already expecting.
When they arrived home, Harry took longer to exit the vehicle. He was startled to hear his boys shouting, “Grandpa! You were missed.”
Harry’s eyes were red and he balled his hands tightly. However, Josh and Andrew would be present, so he couldn’t barge into the house and confront his father and wife. So as he entered, he feigned a smile.
He said firmly, “What are you doing here, Dad?”
However, he didn’t even wait for his dad to answer. Harry’s blood boiled from the wrath he had kept inside all the way from the doctor’s. “Boys, weren’t you going to Bobby’s house for a game night?” He forced a smile as he turned to the boys.
“All right, dad! Let’s go, Andrew. Harry became agitated as the boys gathered their controllers and departed the house.”
“Did you sleep with my father, Nancy?” He lost it on his wife.
Nancy’s face went white.
“Son, look, it’s not what you think,” Robert, his father, stopped him. Harry, however, was not paying attention.
“DNA doesn’t lie, Nancy!” He gave his wife a scowl. “I want to know the truth!”
Nancy was unable to meet her husband’s gaze. She told herself, “Harry has every right to be angry,” as he thought back to that fateful night thirteen years ago.
Nancy was moving through the dance floor to go to the bar area, enjoying the pace of the music. A smell of pricey male cologne filled her nostrils as she waited for her beverages.
Nancy noticed a sharp-jawed, silver-haired man smiling at her from her left. He boldly asked, “Can I buy you a drink?” Nancy was flattered by the attention. Although he was twice her age, the man had good looks.
Nearly shouting at him above the loud music, she said, “I’m already getting something for my girlfriends!”
With a nice smile, the man approached her and said, “Oh, you’re on a girls’ trip with your friends?”
Nancy didn’t even notice when the bartender served her shots. “I’m Nancy.”

“Robert,” he said.
The next morning, Nacy woke up in his bed, and the next thing they knew, they were making out in the elevator. After ordering breakfast and chatting for some time, Robert stated he had to go.
Nancy was okay with the fact that she would never see him again. Her trip to Las Vegas had been passionate and daring, just what she had been looking for. But when Nancy discovered she was pregnant three weeks later, she came to regret the one-night encounter.
Nancy was afraid she would have trouble getting pregnant later, so she didn’t want to end the pregnancy. So, unsure of what to do or where to go, she left the gynecologist’s office. However, she longed to speak with someone. Nancy confided in her friend Anna because she was feeling lost and heartbroken.
“Don’t tell me you’re giving birth to this child by yourself! Really, is there no way for you to contact that person from Vegas?”
“Nope,” sighed Nancy.
“Hey, ladies!” At that moment, a male voice broke off their solemn talk. “This is Harry, my friend, and my name is Oliver. We decided to come over and lift your spirits after noticing that you two were acting rather solemnly.”
Anna thought Oliver was kind of hot, and Nancy was too sweet to push the guys away. Harry and Nancy were left alone to converse for hours after she accompanied him to the dance floor.
“Hey, Nancy, let’s go to the lady’s room,” she abruptly demanded, cutting them off in action. Excusing herself, Nancy went to join Anna. “Go to bed with him. He seems like a kind guy. It was just three weeks ago in Las Vegas. He won’t ever find out,” she assured her in the bathroom.
Nancy initially said no. She wouldn’t act in such a reprehensible manner. She could become a single mother, and she had a job and a degree. The idea of having a father for her child, however, made Nancy reconsider, and she ended up sharing a bed with Harry that night.
Harry repeated the three enchanted words while kneeling a few months later. Nancy almost instantly responded “yes,” and they shared a kiss. Everything was flawless.
A few days later, Harry informed her, “They’re going to love you,” while they stood on his parents’ front porch. At last, he was presenting her to his parents.
“God, oh God.” She rubbed her stomach and murmured, “They’re going to be mad,” but Harry insisted everything would be alright.
Harry’s mother, Miriam, embraced him with open arms as the door opened with a loud voice. Nancy got into trouble once she smelled something—that enticing perfume.
Harry stepped back from his father and said, “Dad, this is my fiancée,” only to show Robert. Harry went on to say, “But as you can see, there’s another surprise in store,” bringing Nancy along as they went inside. “We’re having twins!”
Miriam, Harry’s mother, was the epitome of joy as she embraced Nancy tightly while paying attention to her belly.
“She should see your baby pictures, Harry!” Miriam said. Eventually, she and Harry left Nancy and Robert alone to go get the baby album.
“Nancy is it—” She interrupted Robert before he could finish.
“Harry owns them. It was unknown to me that he was your son. But he owns these infants. As they say, What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.” Let’s follow that advice.
Additionally, Robert and Nancy made the decision to keep the one-night stand a secret.
Today…
“Tell me, Dad!” Harry blew up. “Why did our pediatrician of many years have to inform me that my sons are my siblings? How did it occur?”
Robert said, “It happened in Vegas,” and he defected.
“Vegas…” Harry muttered. “The trip you took with Anna and your friends a few weeks before you met me, and we slept together?”
Nancy nodded without being able to speak.
He questioned aggressively, “Did you know you were pregnant already?”
“Yes,” she said with a drooping head.
“You baby-trapped me, but not even with my own babies!” Harry yelled.
“Son, I’m sorry,” Robert said. “Although, in my defense, she told me they were yours.”
“You’re a monster!” He was shouted at by Nancy. “You were aware! You can’t hold me solely responsible.”

Harry had a flashback to a time when they weren’t so irate when they began arguing. Then his thoughts turned to the boys, his boys. Harry and Nancy were both blue-eyed, but he got his father’s brown eyes. He should have questioned it sooner, but he didn’t.
“They won’t ever realize you’re their biological father!” Harry rubbed his neck and gave it some serious thought as Nancy screamed at Robert.
“Grandpa is our father?” Josh inquired. The twins and their friend, Bobby, were standing in the doorway when they all turned in fear.
“Dad?” Andrew turned to face Harry, who struggled to grin. His boys could see the reality in his eyes, but he somehow managed to keep the poker look he had worn after the encounter with Dr. Dennison.
He mumbled to the twins, “I’m sorry,” as he was too exhausted to do anything else.
