Andrew has always enjoyed a life of privilege. His father was a wealthy man who owned several businesses across New York and provided the perfect opportunities for his son. However, along the way, Andrew became a spoiled teen who started treating everyone with utmost disrespect.
One day, as he took a flight home, Andrew made a scene in front of the rest of the passengers when he demanded snacks from the stewardess. โYou, NOW! Get me something better to snack on than this trash!โ he told her as he threw the snacks at her.
โSir, please donโt throw things at me,โ the stewardess said, feeling humiliated.
โListen to me carefully. Iโll do what I like,โ Andrew yelled at her. โYouโre here to serve me, so stop complaining, shut up and do your job!โ
One of the passengers turned to him and demanded he treat the stewardess with respect, but Andrew, who was a spoiled teen, said heโd do whatever he wanted.
He started yelling again, demanding better snacks, but then he heard a familiar voice.
As he turned around, Andrew went pale.
โDad, what are you doing here?โ he asked his father, who was on the plane and witnessed his sonโs outrageous behavior.
โIโm returning from a business trip,โ his father, Steven said, โand Iโm utterly disappointed in you young man.โ
Neither Andrew nor his dad said another word to each other until the end of the flight that felt like years.
Once home, however, Steven told Andrew that he was starting public school the following day. โNo more boarding school, Andrew, it looks like you havenโt learned anything there. I feel like Iโm wasting my money on your education.โ
Andrew couldnโt believe his dadโs words. โBut dadโฆโ he tried to fight his fatherโs words, but Steven wouldnโt let him finish the sentence.
โAnd yes, you are starting your job as a janitor at the airport starting tomorrow morning.โ
Andrew was devastated. The next morning, he headed towards the airport. Mr. Clark, an elderly man, welcomed him and handed him a broom. โMake sure everything is spotless,โ he said.
The day was hard. Andrew wasnโt used to working. He didnโt even know how to clean the place. Whatโs most, some of the people there didnโt treat him well.
A passenger who was rushing to catch a plane threw an empty bottle at him. โHey, you, donโt throw things at me,โ he yelled at the man.
And thatโs when he understood how that stewardess must have felt like when he mocked her while acting like a spoiled teen.
Andrew understood what he did, and he was sorry.
The day went on and he struggled to have his work done. At one moment, he noticed the stewardess he mocked, and approached her with the words, โIโm that spoiled teen who treated you badly the other day.โ
The stewardess recognized him. She smiled and said, โI guess youโve though a lesson.โ
Andrew said he regretted his behavior and apologized.
It took some time before he was able to convince his dad that he was now a changed young man, not that spoiled teen who mocked the poor stewardess.
At least he was taught a lesson heโs never forget.
