When my wife Natalie and I left the doctorโs office, I knew our world would change for the best. We were going to become parents. It was the news that weโve both waited for so long, and now, our wish was finally turning into a reality.
โHoney, this is the best day ever,โ I screamed with joy.
I knew nothing could ruin my happiness, but I was so wrong.
The moment we stepped foot out of the doctorโs office, I noticed a strange writing on my car. The words โHope She Was Worth Itโ were written all over the left side of it.
โWhat the hell?โ I muttered, heart pounding.
I turned to Natalie, she was as confused as I was. โWhat could this be? Did someone mess up with the wrong car?โ I thought to myself.
Natalie then tied to defend herself, assuring me that she had nothing to do with that message, and that she wasnโt the one who wrote it.
We got inside the car and headed home, but the thought of that message hunted me.
That evening, Natalie spent the night at her parents. I tried to rest and sleep for a while, but I couldnโt. Instead, I got outside and started rubbing the paint the message was written with off the car.
Then, I heard footsteps approaching, and a familiar voice said, โDonโt bother thanking me, youโre welcome.โ
I froze.
When I lifted my head I noticed my best friend, Adrian.
โAdrian, what is going on?โ I asked, confused.
It was then that Adrian decided to share something with me. Something about Natalie.
It turned out that on the day of our engagement party, she disappeared for quite some time. I was busy with the guests and had a few drinks, so I didnโt notice she was absent. While I was unaware of what was happening, all of my friends did notice Natalie sneaking from the party. Glances were exchanged, but no one dared to say anything to me.
โI did this because I thought Natalie would tell you about that night once she read the message on the car,โ Adrian said.
I didnโt want to believe what he was saying, but I was determined to get to the bottom of the story, so I confronted Natalie the following day.
As of Adrian, he said he didnโt believe my marriage would last, but now that we were trying for a baby, he knew I was there to stay, so he wanted me to know the truth about my wife.
When I mentioned the message in front of Natale, she tried to assure me that it was just a random act of vandalism, but I knew it wasnโt.
Eventually, when I asked her about the night of our engagement, she burst into tears and confessed she was scared and wanted to leave for good. The thought of getting engaged and getting married was overwhelming. At the time, she wasnโt even sure if I was the one for her.
But, she didnโt cheat on me, and I decided to trust her.
I wouldnโt let that night define the rest of our lives.
