However, the Hollywood legend has made it known in the last few years that the glitz and glamour of Tinsel Town is not what he lusts after. In fact, the actor has other plans for where he wants to live.

75-year-oldย Richard Gereย was spotted out and about in Madrid, Spain. He and his family relocated to the sunny Spanish city, and it seems like Gere is adjusting to life abroad quite well.
Gere was dressed in a zipped-up black jacket and a gray hoodie with gray jogger pants. He was wearing a white baseball cap that covered his grey hair.
He was seen visiting a store called GAES, which specializes in hearing aids and audiology services. Gereย made the move to Spainย a year ago accompanied by his wife, Alejandra Silva, and their sons, 5-year-old Alexander and 4-year-old James.

Richard Gereโs wife,ย Alejandra Silvaย is a Spain native and hence the move makes sense for the family. โWe are happier than ever,โย saidย in an interview last month.
โShe, because she is at home and I because, if she is happy, I am happy,โ Gere said about how his wife feels about the move.
Silva and Gere met in 2014 at a hotel in Positano, Italy. The two of them shared that they had also been motivated to move to Spain because of humanitarian reasons.
โThe only reason why both Richard and I are here in Madrid is to be part of the board of the NGOย Hogar Sรญ,โ she said, adding, โWe want to help this country to end homelessness. Our goal is that, within five years, no one sleeps on the street.โ
November last year, Gere appeared onย โThe Tonight Showโย and shared his excitement about the move.
โMy wife is Spanish and she gave me about seven years here, and so weโre going to spend some years in Madrid,โย he said. โOur kids are bilingual, so theyโre going to flourish there.โ
The actor is also father to 24-year-old Homer from a previous marriage to Carey Lowell. And Silva also has an older child, 11-year-old, Albert, from a prior marriage.
Gere appeared at Spainโs Goya Awards earlier this month where he received honors for an International Award and expressed how thankful he was for being in the โworld of telling storiesโ andย sharedย how it takes โthousands of peopleโ to make a movie.
He also shared the โprofound experienceโ that is watching a movie and experiencing cinema.
โLeaving your house, you canโt pause the film or leave it for tomorrow. Being with strangers in the dark watching a film โฆ Anything that takes us away from that magic means that we are losing something that is in our basic DNA as human beings,โ he shared his concerns about.
